Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actor who earned popularity for her part in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. In the late 80s, she made her debut in acting and was a hit with her part of Tezaab. In the film, she starred alongside an established actor Anil Kapooor. In the following film, she starred in the movie Dil where she co-starred on the screen alongside Aamir Khan. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she took up dancing from an early age. In her teens, she began acting and was a victim for a few years since the majority of her initial films ended up failing. Her fame grew and she became one of India's top movie actresses. After marriage, she had an absence from work before returning to entertainment. In the past, she was an important role in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the challenges faced by women within India. Dixit has been recognized in fifteen Filmfare Awards. Of these the awards she's won 8. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian honor in India. She is well-known for her involvement in social work too.
